Carlos Queiroz has praised Colombia’s organisation and discipline but insists Ghana will pose a different challenge when the two sides meet in Friday’s FIFA World Cup Round of 32 tie at Kansas City Stadium.

Speaking on Thursday, Queiroz acknowledged the evolution of Néstor Lorenzo’s team since the Juan Cuadrado era.

“It is a team that today is very well organised, with a lot of discipline, with very good players in all their positions,” Queiroz said.

“They have made changes since Juan Cuadrado’s time until now. Changes that have brought another dimension to the team. And the team is playing very well.”

Queiroz revealed he had studied Colombia closely, including their recent performance against Portugal.

“I have made a very careful observation of the Colombian team against Portugal. And they have been very good. That’s what I can say.”

But the Portuguese was adamant that Friday will be a different contest. “Tomorrow is another story. Tomorrow it is not Portugal that is ahead of Colombia. It is Ghana and we are going to play our style, with our strength. And I’m sure we’re going to bring more problems to Colombia during the game.” he added.

The Black Stars completed their final training session at Sporting Kansas Stadium on Thursday morning ahead of the 8:30 p.m. ET kickoff. Ghana is seeking a place in the World Cup Round of 16 for the first time since South Africa 2010. The winner of Friday’s match will face the winner of Switzerland vs Algeria in the last 16.
