Chairman of the Division One League Super Cup Committee, Rabeh El-Eter, has described the upcoming 2026 X1 Division One League (DOL) Super Cup as an important platform for the development and exposure of young football talents across the country.
Speaking ahead of the tournament at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, Chairman Rabeh said the competition presents clubs with the perfect opportunity to assess and showcase emerging players as they prepare for the new Division One League season.
According to him, the tournament has evolved beyond a mere pre-season competition and has become a valuable stage for young footballers to demonstrate their abilities and earn regular places in their respective teams.
"It's an opportunity for clubs to use their young talents ahead of the league. I believe in youth football talent development and this stage is set to serve this purpose," Rabeh said.
The Division One League Super Cup Committee Chairman noted that many talented players have used previous editions of the competition as a springboard to establish themselves at club level and attract wider attention within the football fraternity.
"The DOL Super Cup offers a unique platform for hard-working young players to shine and stake a claim for permanent positions for the new season," he added.
The 2026 X1 DOL Super Cup will bring together eight of the best-performing clubs from the Division One League, including Debibi United, Tamale City, FC AshantiGold, Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs, Port City FC, Semper Fi FC, Attram De Visser SC, and Nsuopon Fidelity FC.
With clubs expected to use the competition to fine-tune their squads and assess new signings, the tournament is anticipated to provide a glimpse of some of the brightest prospects in Ghana's domestic game.
Rabeh also highlighted the positive impact the competition has had on participating clubs over the years, noting that strong performances in the Super Cup have often translated into successful league campaigns.
"Over the years, clubs that have performed well during the DOL Super Cup have continued to excel during the league and we hope this year will not be different," he stated.
Scheduled to be played at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, this year's competition is expected to deliver exciting football, provide opportunities for emerging talents, and offer clubs a valuable platform to prepare for the challenges of the 2026/27 Division One League season.
With the support of headline sponsor X1 Energy Drink and the participation of some of the country's most ambitious clubs, the 2026 X1 DOL Super Cup promises to be a celebration of talent, development, and the future of Ghana football.
