Upper West Regional Football Association Set To Kick-off Maiden Regional FA Cup Competition

The Upper West Regional Football Association (UWRFA) is set to kick off the inaugural edition of the Regional FA Cup competition, featuring all 29 division two clubs in the region.

This eagerly anticipated tournament promises to be a thrilling showcase of grassroots football, with teams battling for glory and a chance to qualify for next season's National MTN FA Cup competition.

The participating clubs have been zoned according to their division two league zones to maximize fan engagement and ensure vibrant match-day atmospheres. Fans can look forward to hard-fought contests, with several blockbuster fixtures already lined up at the preliminary stage of the competition.

A total of 15 matches will be played across various venues in the region, with the Tumu Astroturf hosting four games, the MaCoy Astroturf in Nadowli staging three, and the rest taking place at the Wa Sports Stadium in the regional capital. The Wa Sports Stadium is expected to be a major draw, as fans flock to witness their favourite teams in action.

The preliminary round promises to live up to expectations, featuring some tantalizing encounters. Former Access Bank Division One campaigners Wa Suntaa SC will take on Sombo Freedom Stars at the Wa Sports Stadium in a high-stakes clash that has fans buzzing with excitement.

Over at the MaCoy Astroturf in Nadowli, TF Exponential FC will face Super Upper Stars in what is anticipated to be a fiercely contested match. Meanwhile, Tumu will host its own share of riveting fixtures, including Kulfuo Dreams FC’s showdown with Real 24 Hours and Eva Stars’ encounter with Malima FC.

The matches will run from December 26th to 28th, 2024.
