Abdul Majeed Waris admits he faces tough competition as he looks to establish himself as a candidate for the striking position for Ghana.

The striker earned his second senior call-up into the Black Stars for Wednesday's friendly against China after his debut in the match against Chile in March 2012.

Waris has been impressive for his Swedish side, Häcken, where the 20 year-old has been finding the back of the net regularly.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has more options up-front to choose from with Waris competing with the experienced Asamoah Gyan, Emmanuel Clottey and Richmond Boakye Yiadom for places.

But he is determined to take his chance should he make his second international appearance for Ghana in Xi'an in the friendly against China at 11:35GMT (11:35am Ghana time).

“I think everybody should be happy to wear the jersey of the national team. I learnt a lot when I first came, in terms of hardwork and people sacrificing for the jersey. I think it’s something I have to add if I wear the jersey. I just have to make sure that I work really hard and make the whole Ghana proud,” Waris said ahead of the game at the Shaanxi Province Stadium.

“(I will offer) Nothing less than my best. And just work hard for the jersey and make everybody proud.”
