The Women’s Premier League makes a return this weekend after a two week break. The competition made way for the FA Cup which has reached the quarter final stage. Zonal champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies play host to Ashtown Ladies while Kumasi Sports Academy battle Supreme Ladies in Kumasi. Here is the Preview for match day 13 in the Northern Zone.
Supreme ladies vs. Northern ladies
Supreme ladies will be high in confidence ahead of the game against Northern ladies at Okese Park having advanced to the quarter finals of the FA Cup. The team will now turn attention to a top four slot – two matches to end the season. They drew 1-1 with Kumasi Sports Academy on match week 12 – taking them to 6th in the League log. Northern ladies are 4th on the table with 15 points after posting an emphatic 6:0 win over Fabulous ladies on match day 12. This result is by far their best output of the season and the ‘Pride of the North’ are looking to build on it in the remaining games. Fabulous Ladies vs. Kumasi Sports Academy
With just two match weeks to end the season, another Kumasi derby awaits us this weekend when Fabulous Ladies host city rivals, Kumasi Sports Academy at WESCO Park. The visitors sit third in the table with just a point separating them and Ashtown Ladies - as the fight for second place rumbles on. Fabulous Ladies have endured a torrid campaign tgis season – winning only one match after 12 round of game. This derby could be the decider for Kumasi Sports Academy’s quest to end the season in the second spot whereas Fabulous Ladies also need the win as to apiece their teaming fans. Kumasi Sports Academy won 2-1 in the reverse fixture.
Pearl Pia Ladies FC vs. Prison Ladies FC
Bottom club Pearl Pia Ladies FC and Prison Ladies FC will square off at the Utrecth Park on Saturday as both teams push for the points for different reasons. Prisons Ladies need the win to push for a second place while Pearl Pia fight to end the season on a high after enduring a season to forget. Prisons Ladies beat Pearl Pia in the FA Cup – setting the stage for an incredible battle between two inconsistent sides. Pearl Pia Ladies FC are on 10 points and in 7th place while Prisons Ladies FC sit in 5th place with 15 points. The first round of the league saw Pearlpia Ladies lose 6-1 in an away tie at the Sunyuni Coronation Park. A win for Prison Ladies could see them move up to the top three. Pearlpia Ladies and Prison Ladies are both desperate for win in this game to boost their positions in the league log.
Ampem Darkoa vs. Ashtown Ladies
With the Zonal League crown already secured, Ampem Darkoa Ladies are likely to introduce fresh limbs in the game on Sunday. The Techiman based side opened a 10 point gap in the Northern Zone two weeks ago. Ashtown Ladies have all to play for as far as the three points is concerned – in their quest for a second place. Alex Kamara’s side has been in some fine form in recent weeks and will look to continue that form despite being knocked out of the FA Cup. They picked two vital wins on the road and aim to replicate the form as they journey to the Ohene Ameyaw Park. The tough and gritty Ampen Darkoa Ladies won the reverse fixture 2-1 at the Okese Park at Ejisu.
