Thunder Queens beat Elmina Sea Lions 2-1 on matchday 7 of the Women's Premier League at Tema Community 8 School park.
Elizabeth Oppong almost broke the deadlock in the 15th minute for Thunder Queens after she fired a free kick just over the bar. She was presented with another opportunity in the 19th minute but she again missed.
Elizabeth Owusu of Sea Lions however did not miss her opportunity as she scored a from a freekick in the 37th minute to give the Elmina based side a 1-0 lead. That lead did not last as Leticia Adjei equalized for Thunder Queens in added time to make it 1-1 before the break.
After the recess, Thunder Queens did not sit back as they went in front for the first time in the game in the 50th minute through Vivian Konadu Agyei to make it 2-1. With Thunder Queens ahead, coach Edna Quagraine brought on Deborah Opoku for Herodia Donkor in the 53rd minute.
Sea Lions who were chasing the game also brought on Fosuah Belinda for Cecilia Hagan in 64th minute. There was drama around the same time as Felicia Chaa of Sea Lions and Deborah Opoku of Thunder Queens were both giving the matching orders in the 64th minute.
Sea Lions kept pushing for the equalizer and created some decent chances but could not score. They made another substitution in the 86th minute with the introduction of Joana Yankah for Anesthesia Achiaa.
That substitution did not yield any positive result as the game ended 2-1 in favour of Thunder Queens. Theresah Cobinah of Sea Lions was adjudged the Nasco player of the match.
