Abubakari Damba in South Africa for CAF Goalkeeper Elite Instructors Course

Former Ghana International and Goalkeepers Coaching Instructor Abubakari Damba is in Johannesburg, South Africa for the first-ever CAF Goalkeeping Elite Instructors Course.

The weeklong course which started on Saturday, December 2, will end on Saturday, December 9, 2023. The Elite Instructors Course is a new programme introduced by CAF as it seeks to improve the standards of Goalkeeping Coaching on the continent.

The course is expected to create a panel of experts specialized in Goalkeeping who can train and develop new Goalkeeping Instructors in the various Member Associations.

Also, the course is aimed at elevating the standard of goalkeeping coaching across Africa, recognizing the pivotal role that goalkeepers play in the success of any football team.

Damba's participation underscores the GFA's commitment to develop all the technical aspects of the game, specifically focusing on the crucial position of goalkeeping.

The course will cover a wide range of topics, including advanced goalkeeping techniques, modern coaching methodologies, injury prevention, and the psychological aspects of goalkeeping.

Participants will also engage in both theoretical and practical sessions, allowing them to apply the knowledge gained in real-time scenarios.

The comprehensive curriculum was designed to enhance the technical abilities of the instructors and instill leadership qualities that will enable them to nurture the next generation of goalkeepers in their respective countries.
