The Black Princesses played a goalless draw against Mexico U-20 Women's national team in an international friendly ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Both sides looked hungry in the opening stage with Mexico creating an early chance in the 9th minute but Afi Amenyeku cleared the ball for a corner kick.

Salamatu Abdullai had Ghana’s first chance in the 28th minute but her effort went over the bar.

Both teams improved in the second half and pressed on for the opener but it was Ghana skipper Stella Nyamekye who saw her chance beautifully dealt with by the Mexican goalkeeper. Nyamekye got on the end of a powerful header only to be denied by the goalkeeper.

The two teams used the friendly to fine tune their squad ahead of the tournament.

The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup will kick off in Colombia from Saturday, August 31 - Sunday, September 22, 2024.

The Black Princesses will open their campaign against Austria on September 2 before taking on Japan and New Zealand in the other group E matches.
