Ghana's bid for a fifth African Nations Cup title success has received the backing of Parliament with members of the House demanding total support for the Black Stars in the 2012 Gabon-Equatorial Guinea finals.
On Wednesday, members took turns to extol the team for their impressive qualifying campaign where the Black Stars won five and drew once in six games while conceding just a goal and scoring 13 times.
MP for Atwima Mponua, Mr Isaac Asiamah said: “This for me is very refreshing and impressive, I doff off my hat for the entire team and its technical handlers.”
The MP said, the team has been on the up in the last two African Cup of Nations tournaments - picking bronze in 2008 and taking silver two years later.
Ahead of the finals which would be missing some established sides - Cameroon, Nigeria and holders Egypt, - the MP was quick to add that the campaign deserves a national importance and demanded same from the team.
“In order that Ghana does not receive any surprise from any of the qualified teams, I would want to implore our players to exhibit more technical resilience and discipline to win the cup which has eluded us for three decades to save the hearts of many teeming soccer enthusiasts,” Mr Asiamah said.
