The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is proud to announce that the Ghana Black Stars have been honoured with a Congressional Proclamation by U.S. Congressman Brendan F. Boyle, Representative for Pennsylvania's Second Congressional District and a member of the House World Cup Caucus, in recognition of the team's participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The proclamation, issued on behalf of the United States House of Representatives during the 119th Congress, Second Session, celebrates the Black Stars' contribution to the global game and commends the team for representing Ghana with excellence on football's biggest stage.
The citation highlights the Black Stars as ambassadors of the Republic of Ghana, praising their resilience, national pride and role in promoting the beautiful game. It also acknowledges the significance of the team's visit to Philadelphia, one of the host cities for the FIFA World Cup, noting how it fostered international friendship, cultural exchange and people-to-people diplomacy while energising the city's vibrant Ghanaian-American community.
In the proclamation, Congressman Boyle expressed his best wishes to the Black Stars for continued success throughout the tournament, underscoring the enduring bonds of friendship between Ghana and the United States through sport.
The proclamation was formally presented to GFA Vice-President Mark Addo, who received the honour on behalf of the Ghana Football Association and the Black Stars.
