Maxwell Konadu has named his starting line-up for Ghana's opening Group B fixture against defending champions Nigeria at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship on Monday, July 27.

Shaibu Rafique Issah starts in goal, with Barhama Issah, Kofi Junior Kumah and Humaid Fuseini forming the defensive unit. The midfield and forwards feature Benjamin Tsivanyo, Osafo Antwi, captain Kelvin Nkrumah, David Keke Anane, Mohammed Zaidan, Fatawu Ganiwu and Daniel Alabi.

The much-anticipated West African derby will now be played at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium after being moved from the Lycée Scientifique Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 14:00 GMT (2pm local time).

The clash renews one of the fiercest rivalries in African youth football, with two of the region's traditional powerhouses battling for an early advantage in a highly competitive Group B.

While the tournament doubles as the qualifying competition for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana has already secured its place at the continental finals as hosts. Nevertheless, the WAFU B U-20 Championship provides the Black Satellites with an invaluable opportunity to build momentum, strengthen team chemistry and test themselves against some of West Africa's finest emerging talents as preparations continue for the tournament on home soil.
