GPL WEEK 11 REVIEW: BECHEM STAGE INCREDIBLE COMEBACK, KOTOKO LOSE AGAIN

Premier League debutants Karela FC handed Kumasi Asante Kotoko their second successive defeat by thrashing them 3:1 to move up third on the table, while Bechem United staged a remarkable comeback to draw 3:3 at home with Elmina Sharks in the week eleven of the Premier League.

Kotoko were seeking to make amends after losing at home to bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday, but they were stunned with the opener when Imoro Ibrahim gave Karela the lead midway in the second half.

Burkinabe Songne Yacouba Gabe Kotoko hope by drawing level in the 35th minute before Abdul Ganiu Ismail to scored just before half time to regain Karela’s lead.

Maxwelll Baakoh sealed the victory with the third in the 71st minute to condemn the Porcupine Warriors to the 4th defeat of the season. In a dramatic game in Bechem, Bechem United came from three goals down to draw 3:3 with Elmina Sharks.

Benjamin Tweneboa gave Sharks an early lead in the 6th minute and Felix Addo doubled the lead in the 27th minute before Tweneboa grabbed his second of the afternoon in the 55th minute to give Sharks a seemingly unassailable 3:0 lead.

However, Bechem did not give and Adams Diabate scored what looked like a consolation goal for the hosts. But danger man, Hafiz Konkoni grabbed a sensational three-minute brace to earn Bechem a draw. He scored in the 86th and 89th minute.

In Dawu, Dreams FC also went down twice to Inter Allies, but they eventually won 3:2 in another dramatic game.

Victorien Adebayor gave Inter Allies the lead midway in the first half but Eric Gawu equalized just after the first half. Adebayor again restored Inter Allies’ lead with thirteen minutes to go, but dreams snatched a the win with a five-minute brace by Leonard Owusu. First, he equalized with two minutes to end the game before converting a penalty deep into injury time to seal the win.

In Obuasi, leaders Ashantigold defeated Eleven Wonders 1:0 with Latif Anabila scoring the only goal of the match, while WAFA defeated Berekum Chelsea 2:1 at Tema, in a home game for Chelsea, which was played there due to their home ban.

In Cape Coast, Liberty Professionals held Accra Hearts of Oak to a goalless draw, while the second match in Cape Coast between Wa All Stars and Aduana Stars was called off due to power failure.

Ebusua Dwarfs will host Medeama on Thursday to complete the week eleven fixtures.
