The TnA Stadium in Tarkwa is set to provide the stage for the ceremonial opening of the 2026/27 domestic football season when Medeama SC take on Nations FC in the 2026 Champion of Champions on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

The prestigious fixture will bring together Ghana’s two reigning domestic champions in what promises to be an intriguing early-season showdown between the winners of the country’s two major competitions.

Medeama SC, winners of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, will lock horns with Nations FC, who lifted the MTN FA Cup, with both sides looking to begin their respective new campaigns by adding another piece of silverware to their trophy cabinets.

Traditionally contested between the champions of the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup, the Champion of Champions serves as a symbolic curtain-raiser to the new domestic football season. Beyond its ceremonial significance, the fixture offers both teams an opportunity to test their readiness ahead of another demanding campaign.

The Champion of Champions also offers an early glimpse into the competitive landscape of the upcoming season, with both clubs expected to use the fixture to assess their squads, sharpen their tactical approach and build momentum ahead of their respective league campaigns.
