Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has acknowledged the quality of his young squad members and believes they can take responsibility to aid Ghana 2013 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Ghana has a young team with as many as ten players making their debuts in Africa's flagship competition.

With lots of emerging stars complementing the efforts of a few in the middle of their primes, Kwesi Appiah admits the rigors of African football will offer them valuable education going forward.

“We’ve got so many young talents in the team. In our starting line-up [against DR Congo], there were five of them who had never been to any competition.

“It’s not easy, some players maybe very good but once they come to such big occasions, their first games, it’s normal that some of them maybe a bit jittery,” Appiah said.

With the first game out of the way, the Ghana coach expects his youthful members who get the chance to play to rise to the occasion following a slow start after they drew 2-2 with DR Congo on Sunday.

“I personally believe that the young guys that I have got at the moment will still surprise many people even though we could not get the needed win that was expected."
