Youngster Frank Owusu scored his first Premier League goal for Aduana FC as they recorded a 1-0 victory over Accra Great Olympics at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports complex at Abrankese.
The leaders went into the game looking to win to keep hold of the top spot while Great Olympics entered the fray in search of the points to boost their survival chances.
Frank Owusu who made his first Premier League start made good use of the opportunity by scoring the winning goal in the 54th minute to give the two-time champions a commanding lead as they opened a six-point gap at the top.
Great Olympics troubled their host for majority part of the game but Aduana FC had goalkeeper Joseph Addo to thank for the points as he pulled a number of outstanding saves to deny Olympics a goal in the match.
The defeat pushed Great Olympics back into the relegation zone as they sit in the 16th position with 31 points – 10 points ahead of bottom placed Kotoku Royals.
Elsewhere at Fosu Gyeabuor Park - Bechem United gave away a two goal lead to lose 3-2 to Tamale City at the Aliu Mahama stadium.
Godfred Abban scored the winner in the 83rd minute to secure the three points for the Tamale lads who are fighting hard to avoid the drop. Hafiz Konkoni grabbed two first half goals inside 20 minutes of proceedings as he netted in the 13th and 19th minutes of the match.
Tamale City showed hunger and desire in the second half and their efforts were rewarded in the 53rd minute when Black Satellites striker Mohammed Yahaya scored to reduce the deficit. The Citizens drew level in the 66th minute through a Collins Boateng penalty before Godfred Abban netted the winner in the 83rd minute to secure the win.
