GFA President Edwin Simeon-Okraku commiserates with family of late Premier League star Hans Kwofie

Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has visited the family of late former Premier League top scorer, Hans Kwofie, at his hometown of Dompim Pepesa, near Tarkwa in the Western Region.

President Simeon-Okraku paid his last respect to the deceased Medeama SC and AshantiGold cult hero after  paying a visit to his family on Friday August 15, 2024.

He commiserated with the family, assuring them of the support of the Football Association to give a befitting farewell to the celebrated footballer.

Hans Kwofie, 35, passed away in a tragic accident on June 21, 2024.

The deceased striker enjoyed an amazing career at boyhood club, Medeama SC, where he earned cult hero status.

He also enjoyed an illustrious career in the Ghanaian mining town of Obuasi, where he excelled for three-time Premier League champions, AshantiGold. He won the Premier League top scorer award in 2017 and turned out for other Ghanaian clubs like Heart of Lions, Legon Cities and Aduana Stars.

Kwofie also featured for Qatari-club Al-Oruba and Egyptian outfit Smouha FC.

President Simeon-Okraku was accompanied by Executive Council member, Samuel Aboabire, Western Regional Football Association Chairman, Simon Ehumah, Medeama SC President, Moses Armah, Head of Public Relations and Strategy, Neil Armstrong- Mortagbe, Chief of Staff, Michael Osekre and Medeama SC Operations Manager, John Cudjoe.

The late Hans Kwofie will be laid to rest at his home town of Dompim Pepesa on Saturday August 17, 2024.
