He has featured in Ghana's two previous World Cup appearances and is desirous to help make it a third-straight qualification.
Asamoah Gyan will lead the Black Stars against Egypt in the second-leg after securing themselves in a 'comfortable position' ahead of Tuesday's return in Cairo.
The Al-Ain striker says Ghana are keen on another crack at the World stage.
“We’re desperate to get back to the World Cup, but we have to make sure we do things in the right way in the second leg,” Gyan said ahead of the return fixture in Cairo, calling for focus. “It’s football, so anything can happen.”
The thumping first-leg win, according to Gyan has placed the Black Stars a good position but insist that they are not the five-goal lead for granted.
“We’re in a comfortable position right now, but we need to totally focus on our job and make sure we do what we have to do to reach Brazil. We have to do things the right way in Cairo.”
Gyan got two goals to help the Black Stars thrash Egypt 6-1 in the first-leg in Kumasi last month and says it was a result many never expected.
“You can’t really expect such a massive result against a team like Egypt. We were hoping to get a comfortable win at home, but things just went right for us on the night.
“We deserved it,” he said. “The players fought their hearts out – everyone was fighting so hard. And the crowd were simply amazing.”
