Asamoah Gyan would want to stay fit and in form to help Ghana reach the next World Cup as the Black Stars captain targets the 2018 final in Russia.

Despite their first round elimination in Brazil, the promising outlook serves as encouragement for Gyan, who is 28 and remains Ghana's most-capped player in their World Cup history, with 11 games to his credit.

Gyan, who was making his third appearance at the World Cup after his debut in 2006 is determined to be back in 2018.

“No doubt about it,” Gyan said.

“The fact is we’ve got a very young team, we’re still learning and we have a great future ahead of us. I’m one of the most experienced players in the team and I know we can come back and take the world by storm, just like we did in 2010. We’ve definitely got the talent to do that.”

The player, who is Africa's leading scorer at the World Cup with 6 goals is eager to remain in fine form to help Ghana reach a fourth-straight final.

“Obviously I’d love to play in another World Cup,” he continued.

“I’m 28 and I’m hoping to maintain my form over the next four years. If we qualify for Russia, it goes without saying that I want to be there. I hope God can protect me from injuries.”
