The Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League returns this weekend after a short break for the African Games and the Women’s FA Cup. Faith Ladies and leaders Hasaacas Ladies remain unbeaten and have to dig deep to preserve their record as they play away to Soccer Intellectuals and Ladystrikers respectively. Army Ladies will host bottom placed Sea Lions at MAT’s Park at Teshie in another crucial encounter. A loss for Sea Lions will condemn them to relegation whilst Army Ladies look for the points to compete for the top spot.

Here is what to expect this weekend:

BERRY LADIES VRS ESSIAM SOCRATES

Berry Ladies will welcome Essiam Socrates Ladies to the Madina Astro turf. The host will be aiming to make amends after losing to Sea Lions in a seven goal thriller as Essiam Socrates went into the break with a defeat to leaders Hasaacas Ladies. Both teams have been inconsistent with their performance in their last three games but the host will look to pick up the maximum points to boosts their top four chances. Essiam Socrates are second from bottom in the Southern Zone and a good result will lift them out of the relegation zone.

LADYSTRIKERS VRS HASAACAS LADIES

Ladystrikers will play league leaders, Hasaacas Ladies at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium in another sizzling encounter. Ladystrikers picked up four points in their last two matches before the league went on break whilst Hasaacas Ladies picked up maximum points against Essiam Socrates. Hasaacas Ladies are buoyed by the return of lead striker, Mukarama Abdulai who had a great spell at the just ended African Games. Midfield superstar Doreen Copson who earned a call up for the Olympic Games qualifiers against Zambia is also back in the squad for this clash. The Sekondi Ladies have amassed 29 points after 9 wins and 2 draws in 11 Premier League outings – as they are hotly chased by Faith Ladies and Army Ladies who are 2nd and 3rd places with 21 and 19 points respectively.

SOCCER INTELLECTUALS VRS FAITH LADIES

At the Eduyaw Asasan Park in Ajumako, Soccer Intellectuals will host high flying and second placed Faith Ladies in an epic clash. Faith Ladies claimed a solitary victory over Intellectuals in the first round and would be aiming for the double over their host. Soccer Intellectuals on the other hand will fight tooth and nail to bag the maximum points in their quest to boost their survival chances.

ARMY LADIES VRS SEALIONS

Elmina based Sea Lions will travel to the capital as guests of in form Army Ladies at the Teshie MATS Park. Army Ladies who are 10 points behind leaders, Hasaacas Ladies are hopeful of clinching the Southern Zone title and would not want to drop points to strugglers Sea Lions who are bottom of the table with 5 points – one defeat away from being relegated from the top flight.

JONINA LADIES VRS POLICE LADIES

Debutants, Jonina Ladies will host Police Ladies at the Antie Aku Astro Turf. Police Ladies have been in top form in the FA Cup having eliminated defending champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies and record holders Hasaacas Ladies – but their inconsistent form in the Premier League leaves a lot to be desired. The service Ladies will go into this fixture hoping to replicate their FA Cup top form. Jonina Ladies, 7th in the League standings with 12 points –are looking to put up a good performance to boost their chance of survival.
