Hearts of Oak scored in either half to beat Nsoatreman FC 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The former champions forced an own goal from Nsoatreman midfielder Philip Ofori in the 15th minute to open the scoring before Yaw Baafi added to the tally in the 66th minute with a well-taken strike.
Samuel Ofori, hit back two minutes later as he scored in the 68th minute to set up a tense ending to the game. The visitors took control of the game looking for the equalizer as Hearts of Oak sat on tenterhooks in the closing stages of the game.
Nsoateman FC were later reduced to 10-men after Ransford Asokwah received his marching orders in the 83rd minute.
The win takes Hearts of Oak up to the third spot in the league table while Nsoatreman FC drops to the 16th place in the League table with 31 points.
