Black Stars defender Gideon Mensah says he’s ready to make his mark on the World Cup’s biggest stage, insisting Tuesday’s clash with England at Boston Stadium is his moment to deliver.

With England installed as Group L favourites after their opening 4-2 win over Croatia, Mensah was bullish about Ghana’s chances — and his own.

“I see myself to be a player for big games and big players, so it’s time for me to also shine,” Mensah said.

Ghana enter the game level with England on three points following their 1-0 victory over Panama. Despite external predictions favoring the Three Lions, Mensah believes the narrative will shift after 90 minutes in Foxborough.

“People are tipping them to be the favourites and whatnot. But then I’m trying to make sure that after the game, the news is going to change around it,” he said.

The winner of Tuesday’s match will take sole control of Group L. Kickoff at Boston Stadium is set for 4:00 PM ET.
