KGL U17 Colts: Brong Ahafo exit Championship on a high note after beating Volta Region

Brong Ahafo ended their campaign in the 2024 KGL Foundation Inter Regional U17 Championship on a high after beating Volta Region 1-0 on Saturday August 3, 2024.

Coach Kyeremeh Stephen's talented boys can hold their heads high after finishing third in Group A behind Volta Region while Northern Region claimed top spot.

Midfielder Ampomah Derick scored the only goal of the match in the 54th minute to separate the two sides at the GFA technical centre, Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram.

Volta Region had already secured qualification to the last four prior to the final group match and now joins table-toppers Northern Region from Group A into the semi-finals.

Northern Region topped Group A with eight points, one above second-placed Volta Region and progressed into the semi-finals set to take place on Tuesday August 6, 2024.

Brong Ahafo midfielder Akurugu Vincent-Yaw was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The final Group B matches on Sunday August 4, 2024, will see Western Region battling it out with Upper West Region at 10am local time before Eastern Region take on Upper East at 15:00GMT (2pm local time).

The matches of the Championships are being telecast live to various platforms including the GFA Official Facebook page and Max TV.

The KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, launched in 2021, has been an avenue for talent discovery for clubs, particularly Premier and Division One League clubs, with several players being beneficiaries of the esteemed competition.

The ten Regional Football Associations have selected the best U17 players from their Colts competitions to represent their regions in the Championship which is aimed at identifying, training and developing young talents for the national youth teams.
