Five Elite Ghana Football Association Academy products made the squad with four players featuring for the Upper East Region in their 1-0 win over Greater Accra Region in the opening Group B match of the ongoing KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship 2024.
Rashid Yakubu, Akurubilla Victor, Aniah Jacob and Ayumah Abdulai, who are among the first batch of Academy players, featured for the side as they coasted to a narrow victory at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.
Reserve Goalkeeper Atuah Maxwell completes the list of Elite GFA Academy players, who are taking part in the talent identification Championship which has the goal of identifying talents to feed the pool of talent for Ghana's U17 National team.
The promising performance exhibited by the four players and others signifies a hopeful future for players participating in the ongoing tournament.
The first batch of students of the Elite Ghana Football Academy in Winkogo, were admitted at the Bolgatanga Senior High School in the Upper East Region some six months ago.
The GFA established the Technical Centre at Winkogo to harness the quality of talents from the school sector in the three Northern regions (Northern, Upper East & Upper West regions) of Ghana.
