Greater Accra Region claimed a 2-0 win over Upper West Region, while Eastern Region delivered a 1-0 success over Western Region to wrap up Day 8 of the KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, on Friday August 2, 2024.
With top spot in their sights, Greater Accra Region put up an impressive display to break the deadlock in the 72nd minute through Jeremiah Abalo against Upper West Region at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram.
Kelvin Owusu Ansah added the second to seal victory for the side to catapult them to the top of Group B - amassing seven points from four matches.
However, Greater Accra will have to wait to know their fate after the final round of matches in Group A are concluded on Sunday August 4, 2024.
Upper West are still rock-bottom after failing to win a single game so far, despite putting up a decent shift at the GFA technical centre.
Youngster Prince Amoako was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
In Friday's second match, Eastern Region survived an early pressure and scare to beat Western Region 1-0 to jump to second on the table with six points.
Boafo Benjamin scored the only goal of the match in the 79th minute to separate the two teams.
It's now all to play for in the final group B games on Sunday August 4 with four teams jostling for a slot in the semis.
Upper East are third on the table with six points, but are closely followed by Western Region in fourth position as the two teams prepare to square off in a make-or-break clash on Sunday August 4, 2024.
Isaac Aku-Tetteh was deservedly adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The Championship fixtures in Group A on Saturday August 3, 2024, will see Northern Region battling it out with Central Region at 10am local time before Volta Region take on Brong Ahafo at 14:00GMT (2pm local time).

The KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, launched in 2021, has been an avenue for talent discovery for clubs, particularly Premier and Division One League clubs, with several players being beneficiaries of the esteemed competition.
The ten Regional Football Associations have selected the best U17 players from their Colts competitions to represent their regions in the Championship which is aimed at identifying, training and developing young talents for the national youth teams.
