KGL U17 Colts: Volta and Northern in epic clash; Central Region battle Ashanti on Match Day 7

Volta Region will be aiming to maintain their three-point lead atop Group A standings when they take on Northern Region on Match Dy 7 of the  KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship on Thursday August 1, 2024.

The penultimate Group A match will take place at the GFA technical centre, Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Thursday's second game, which kicks off 14:00GMT (2pm local time).

The talented U17 boys from the Volta Region have simply been brilliant as they remain the only team in the talent identification Championship with a perfect record. They have won twice on the trot and will be aiming to make it a hat-trick of wins against Northern Region today.

The Group A leaders thrashed Brong Ahafo Region 4-1 in their opener before seeing off defending champions Ashanti Region 2-0.

However, they come up against a Northern Region side that won't be pushovers after they put up a dominant performance to dismantle Ashanti Region 4-1 in their last match.

The remarkable win has lifted the whole squad as they turn their attention to the Group A league leaders at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram.

A stern test awaits, however, with Northern Region boosted after their impressive win against the defending championship on Tuesday July 30, 2024.

In the early morning game, Ashanti Region take on Central Region in their last group match aiming to end on a high in the Colts Championship, primarily focused on talent identification. Kick off is 10am local time.

They started brightly, beating Brong Ahafo 4-0 before being convincingly beaten by Volta and Northern Regions in the famous talent identification Championship.

The matches of the Championships are being telecast live to various platforms including the GFA App, GFA Official Facebook page and Max TV.

The KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, launched in 2021, has been an avenue for talent discovery for clubs, particularly Premier and Division One League clubs, with several players being beneficiaries of the esteemed competition.

The ten Regional Football Associations have selected the best U17 players from their Colts competitions to represent their regions in the Championship which is aimed at identifying, training and developing young talents for the national youth teams.
