The Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League has reached a critical stage with two matches to end the zonal League. Hasaacas Ladies have a 4 point lead at the top of the Southern Zone table and will be looking ahead to another away victory to keep hold of the top spot. Second placed Faith Ladies who are 4 points behind the leaders will host bottom placed Ridge City FC at the Dansoman Carl Reindorff Park.

Read on for the full preview:

FAITH LADIES VRS RIDGE CITY

Dansoman-based Faith Ladies will host bottom placed Ridge City FC at the Carl Reindolf Park on Saturday. The Super-Cup champions see this as an opportunity to catch up with Hasaacas Ladies in a fierce title race with two games to go. Second-placed Faith had been unbeaten in their last six games and would enjoy a free ride against strugglers Ridge City who are on a losing spree. Faith Ladies managed to beat Ridge City 4-1 in the first round and are poised for all the points against their opponent. A win for Ridge City would still not change their position in the League standings as they are rooted at the bottom of the southern zone table without a single win after sixteen round of matches.

ESSIAM SOCRATES VRS POLICE LADIES

Newbies Essiam Socrates will engage Police Ladies at the Mankessim Astro Turf. The host are 5th in the table with 22 points whereas the visitors are 2 points adrift. Socrates succumbed to a 2-0 loss to Army Ladies over the weekend and would be seeking to bounce back to the winning ways against Police Ladies who have performed below par this season. Police Ladies came from behind to beat Berry Ladies 2-1 in the match preceding match and would need at least a point from this game to confirm their stay in the elite league for next season.

 LADYSTRIKERS VRS HASAACAS LADIES

Ladystrikers take on league leaders, Hasaacas Ladies at the Robert Mensah Stadium on Saturday in a make or break encounter. Both sides need the points for different reasons and would fight to tooth and nail to secure it. Whiles Hasaacas Ladies are seeking to open their lead at the top of the table, Lady Strikers are in desperate need of the points to avoid the drop as they lie two places above the relegation zone with 20 points. There is plenty to play for as a win or draw will be enough for the home side to escape relegation whereas a win for Hasaacas Ladies will make them champions of the Southern Zone. Ladystrikers go into the game buoyed by a convincing 6:1 away win over Ridge City while Hasaacas Ladies also had their three points at home against Soccer Intellectuals after a 3:1 victory at the Gyandu Park.

 SOCCER INTELLECTUALS VRS ARMY LADIES

Ajumako based Soccer Intellectuals would entertain Army Ladies in the penultimate game of the Malta Guinness Women's Premier League. Army Ladies were 2-0 victors at home over Essiam Socrates Ladies prior to this encounter whilst Intellectuals suffered a 3-1 thumping at the hands of league leaders Hasaacas Ladies at the Gyandu Park. Stakes are very high as the guest would be seeking to consolidate their top 4 finish; the host are in dire need of the maximum points to avoid relegation. Army Ladies won the previous encounter 1-0 when they last met in the first round of the season.

BERRY LADIES VRS THUNDERQUEENS.

Berry Ladies will play host to relegation threatened Thunder Queens at the Madina Astro Turf on Monday. The host who began the season poorly have been the most impressive team in the second half of the season following a winning run that has lifted them to the 4th place. Thunder Queens on the other hand have 14 points and lie in 9th position. A win for the host will cement their place in the top four and a loss for the visitors will all but confirm their relegation from the top echelons of Women’s football in Ghana.
