Berekum Chelsea returned to winning ways after beating Karela United by a goal to nil at the Golden City Park in Berekum.
Captain of Chelsea and the Nasco Man of the Match, Zackaria Fuseini's solitary strike ensured victory in the midweek action in the Ghana Premier League.
The victory also moved Chelsea back to the top of the league log with 17 points after 8 matches.
The first half ended with few chances created at both ends of the pitch in a fairly balanced game.
The second half started with a lot of firepower from the home side but Karela United's defenders were resolute as they carefully managed to wither the early scare.
The pressure paid off in the 55th minute when Captain of the Berekum side, Zackaria Fuseini scored from a resultant free-kick near the edge of the 18yards box. The power-packed shot took a deflection, beating Isaac Hagan in post for the visitors. Zackaria has two goals now after his only strike also won them three points against Dreams FC in week four.
Enos Kwame Adepa, Karela United's assistant coach painfully accepted defeat saying, they did everything to turn the game in their favor including the variation of tactics but Chelsea was up to the task.
"We are still a work in progress and Karela Utd will be seen in a positively different form by the end of the first half of the season, he the media after the game.
"We played high balls which didn't help us". Our inability to score more goals is not a lack of strikers but rather not getting balls to the strikers. But with the addition of some experienced midfielders, I hope the situation will change going forward", Joseph Asare Bediako, Berekum Chelsea's assistant coach said.
Chelsea next travels to Elmina Sharks while Karela United host Medeama in a regional derby.
