Tamale City suffered their second successive defeat of the season after losing 2-0 to city rivals Northern City at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Friday. Osman Zakaria and Mumin Awal scored in either half to give their side all the spoils. Zakaria opened the scoring in the 37th before Mumin added the second goal inside 73 minutes for Northern City. Tamale City are currently occupying the second position in the Zone One A table with 25 points after back-to-back defeats.
In Zone One B, former Premier League side Bofoakwa Tano suffered yet another defeat in the 2024/25 Access Bank Division One League after losing 2-1 to Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Ohene Ameyaw Park. Solomon Adu put Bofoakwa Tano in front from a spot kick in the 7th minute whiles Frank Awere equalized for Eleven Wonders in the 12th minute before Bismarck Gyan netted the winner in stoppage time for Eleven Wonders.
Meanwhile Real Tamale United were ruthless on Sunday as they hammered newly promoted side Walewale Catholic Stars 7-1 to secure top spot in Zone One A. Kwame Suklu scored first for Walewale Catholic Stars in the 13th minute but Real Tamale United responded with two goals from Mutala Mohammed and Taufik Hardi in the 28th and 43rd minutes. Right after the break, Abdulai Abdul Rashid scored the third goal for Real Tamale United in the 54th minute followed by Blabala Bamon’s 74th minute goal whiles Wisdom Manyina Jonas added to the tally in the 88th minute before Musah Alhassan and Abdul Kudus Nurudeen both scored in stoppage time to make it 7-1 for Real Tamale United. The Northern giants are rooted to the top of Zone One A with 28 points – three points ahead of rivals Tamale City.
