Moments of thrills and individual brilliance climaxed match day two of the ongoing Women’s Division Regional Championship Playoff, Southern Zone.

Samartex Ladies who lost their opening game came back guns blazing at Luta Thunder Ladies in a 2:1 victory in the first game of the day.

Luta Thunder’s Joyce Atimbilla started the game brightly after forcing a save from Lawrencia Arimah as early as the third minute, when she cut in from the right flank and had a low left-footed shot from the edge of the area palmed away.

The tides turned from the 4th minute when Helina O. Tawiah’s 20 yards effort comfortably landed in the net to give Sarmatex the lead. Patricia Nyanful added a second on the 66th minute with a header from the left flank.

An 88th minute consolation from Joyce Atimbilla could not save the day for Luta Thunder Ladies as Samartex FC record their first win.

In the second fixture, FC Epiphany Warriors continued their blistering form as they signed-off match day 2 with a 1:0 victory over Rootz Sistaz.

Jennifer Darwah set the pace on the 22nd minute, curling just into the net from the edge of the box.

Both sides had decent chances at goal but could not bury those chances leaving the score at 1:0 after 90 minutes.

In the last game of the day, Halifax Queens came into the affair looking for just their first win in the competition against Mfantseman Royals.

Mahmud Salamatu shot Mfantseman into a quick lead on the 5th minute but Halifax Queens hit back immediately and secured a deserved equalizer through Captain, Yaa Agyeiwaa.

Halifax Queens took total control heading towards half-time, taking a much-deserved lead with another goal from Yaa Agyeiwaa on the 34th minute.

The momentum never really swung back after the game was halted for a while due to heavy rains.

Two more goals from seidatu Wahab and Joyce Yeboah on the 61st and 65th minutes ensured the game ended 4:1 in favour of Halifax Queens.

Halifax Queens did fancy a few half-chances in remaining minutes of the game to steal a crucial victory.

Match day 3 is scheduled for Monday 17th June from 9:00am prompt.
