In a heart-stopping final to their season, Techiman Eleven Wonders FC narrowly escaped relegation after a tense penalty shootout against Steadfast FC in the Access Bank Division One League Zone One relegation playoff game played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, June 30, 2024.

With the fate of both teams hanging in the balance, the match at Baba Yara Stadium unfolded as a gripping battle of nerves and skill.

Former Premier League side Techiman Eleven Wonders FC, who are fighting to avoid relegation, entered the match knowing only victory could secure their place in the second-tier League for next season.

However, their opponents, Steadfast FC, were equally determined to secure a win and guarantee their survival.

Wonders, however broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute after Abass Ganiu slotted in to put his side ahead. After a tense affair between the two sides, Steadfast FC took the game into a stalemate after regulation time.

The scores remained 1-1, after extra time and the match headed into the dreaded penalty shootout.

The tension reached its peak as each team's players stepped up to take their spot-kicks. The crowd held their breath with every shot, but it was the Techiman Eleven Wonders goalkeeper who emerged as the hero of the hour as he saved two kicks from Steadfast FC.

Wonders emerged (6-5) winners after the shootouts and earned the chance to play in the 2024/25 Access Bank Division One League, while Steadfast FC returns to the Northern Region Division Two League for next season.
