Vision FC have secured their place in the final of the 2024 Division One League (DOL) Super Cup after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Young Apostles in the semi-finals. The match, which took place on Thursday, ended goalless after both regulation and extra time, with Vision FC eventually prevailing 4-3 in the penalty shootout.
The clash between the two sides was a tightly contested affair, with both teams showcasing their defensive solidity throughout the match. Despite several attempts from both sides, neither could break the deadlock in regular time, forcing the game into extra time.
The extra time offered more of the same, with both teams battling for control but failing to find the decisive goal. As the final whistle blew after 120 minutes of play, the match was still goalless, setting the stage for a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.
In the shootout, Vision FC held their nerve, converting four of their five penalties. Young Apostles, on the other hand, missed two crucial spot-kicks, which ultimately cost them a place in the final.
Vision FC’s clinical performance from the penalty spot ensured their passage to the final, where they will face Okwawu United. The two teams will battle it out for the DOL Super Cup title at the Nana Kronamansah Park on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Young Apostles will take on Techiman Heroes in the third-place playoff, scheduled for Saturday.
The 2024 DOL Super Cup has provided plenty of drama and excitement so far, and the final promises to be a fitting conclusion to the tournament.
