Nations FC vs Accra Lions FC: 15:00 GMT,  Kumasi, StarTimes Adepa channel 247

Nations FC need to win to keep their Ghana Premier League title hopes alive on Friday May 17, 2024, but in-form Accra Lions stand in their way.

Nations are still vying with FC Samartex 1996 for the 2023-24 Premier League crown but have some ground to make up as they trail the league leaders by seven (7) points with five matches to end the season.

Coach Kassim Mingle's side will be aiming to turn the tide after recent unflattering results in their title pursuit.

Nations, who are without a win in their last five matches, are seven point behind FC Samartex and any further slip-ups at this stage could prove fatal.

A trip to Dr. Kwame Kyei complex in Abrankese, will be a might challenge for the visitors - who make their first ever trip to the venue since making their Premier League bow.

Ibrahim Tanko's charges will try to vault above Nations FC and into second place on the league table against a side desperate to turn to corner.

The stage is set for an enthralling contest as Nations FC pit their wits against the in-form Accra side at home on Friday- to start this weekend's round of matches in the Ghanaian top-flight.

Nations FC are second on the table with 45 points from 29 matches, and are winless in their last 5 games - drawing twice and suffered three defeats.

The have managed to accumulate 33 points at home in the league this season, scoring 26 and conceding 9. They are unbeaten at home in this campaign after 15 matches and are ranked as the 3rd best home performers so far.

Accra Lions have won 2, drawn 2 and suffered 1 defeat in their last 5 games. The Accra based are 3rd on the table with 44 points from 29 matches.

Ibrahim Tanko’s side have secured 16 points away from home,  scoring 12 and conceding 19 goals.   Lions are ranked as the 3rd best away performers in the league. They  won their last away game against league giants Hearts of Oak in the Accra derby.

It’s a cracker between the third best home side and the third best away performers in this campaign.

Nations FC are yet to host Accra Lions at home in the league after gaining promotion into the top-flight in the 2023/24 season.

Nations FC top scorer Asamoah Boateng Afriyie will be available for the game on Friday. Other key players like Barimah Baah, Prince Acquah, Micheal Awuah, Razak Simpson, Kwame Boakye, Prince Badu, Abdul Karim, Richard Berko, Victor Oduro and Nafiu Sulemana are available for the match.

Mohammed Yahaya, Dominic Amponsah, Blessing Dankwah, Ali Mohammed, Remember Adomako Boateng, Daniel Awuni, Sadat Seidu, Musa Hamzata, Shawkan Mohammed, Abdul-Shakun Abubakari and Issah Husein are all fit for selection for Accra Lions.
