Accra Lions face leaders FC Samartex Friday

Ahead of the final round games in the first round of the Ghana Premier League, Sameraboi based FC Samartex are top of the table with 29 points having won nine, lost five and drawn two in 16 Premier League games. One hundred and thirty-six (136) games have been played with 8 outstanding games left to draw the curtains on the the first round of the campaign. Seventy-three (73) wins have been registered at home, with twenty-four (24) away wins, thirty-nine (39) draws, with two hundred and fifty-seven (257) goals scored. Home teams have netted one hundred and sixty-seven (167) times, with away teams scoring ninety (90).

On Friday, Accra Lions will continue their sojourn away from the Accra Sports stadium against leaders FC Samartex at the WAFA Park in Sogakope. The visitors managed a 3-0 victory against Karela United on Matchday 16 to go top of the table for the second time this season.

The win over Karela United was a record eighth straight win at home in the season - the best thus far.

Accra Lions are 9th in the League table with 20 points, having won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 in their last 5 matches - and boast 12 home points, scoring 9 and conceding 10 goals.

Ali is expected to lead the lines for Accra Lions - with the likes of Mohammed Yahaya, Abass Salifu, Dominic Nsobila, David Oduro, Bernard Kesse, Musa Hamzata, Daniel Awuni, Remember Adomako Boateng, Shawkan Mohammed and Dominic Amponsah all available for selection.

Top scorer for FC Samartex Baba Musa will hope to add to his 6-goal tally after excelling in the opening half of the season for his new team. Baba Musa who joined from Skyy FC has been absolutely phenomenal for FC Samartex 1996 following his summer move. Other players who are pressing for a starting place include, Emmanuel Mamah, Dauda Yussif Seidu, Epshon Micheal, Emmanuel Adu Siaw, Ebenezer Acquah, Evans Osei Wusu, James Sewornu, Emmanuel Keyekeh, Richmond Darko and Samuel Tetteh Mensah.
