On what it means to play at the World Cup
I think for everyone in the team, you want to play at the World Cup. The World Cup everything. We want to do everything we can to qualify. It comes with all these games. We need to win the easy games; we need to win the hard games. We've done that today. Monday, we have to do the same. September, we'll do the same, and then hopefully qualify.
On scoring for the first time since March 2023
It's a confidence boost, for sure. I wouldn't say there was pressure. I feel like every player goes through a phase where they don't score. I feel like every game, just approach it the same way. Try and get a goal. If I don't get a goal, the next game you will so I feel like this coming international break, I was like, you know what, I need to get a goal. It's been a while, but I wouldn't say there's any pressure. It's important.
On the significance of the win
Coming into the game, we wanted to win, we wanted to score as many goals as possible and also get the first place in the Group. I think from the previous games in the AFCON, things didn’t go well so we we wanted to win so that we get a big start in the remaining qualifiers. The 5-0 is important but like the coach said Monday is the most important so we are just ready for that really. But it was a vintage performance today.
