Black Satellites to face Senegal, Mali & Burkina Faso in 2019 AYC

Ghana have been placed in Group B of the 2019 Africa Youth (U20)Championship (AYC) alongside, Senegal, Mali and Burkina Faso.

Coach Jimmy Cobblah’s side will be based in Maradi for the competition which will be staged from February 2-17, 2019.

The groups were announced after a draw which was held at a ceremony in Niamey, Niger on Thursday evening.

The Black Satellites have been warming up for the competition with the ongoing WAFU tournament being staged in Togo.

Ghana however exited the WAFU competition this week after losing their final group match to Nigeria. 

Nonetheless, the team will continue preparations for the AYC championship and will soon announce some friendly matches ahead of the tournament.

Ghana will face neighbors Burkina Faso in the group opener before facing Mali in the second group fixture before playing  Senegal in the final group game.

The four semi-finalists will all qualify to the FIFA U20 World Cup to be staged in Poland.
