Essiam Socrates Ladies have emerged as champions of the Central Regional Women’s Division One League after an emphatic 4-0 win over Mfantseman Royal Ladies in the finals played at the Enyan Abaasa Astro Turf.

The former Women’s Premier League side dominated from the first whistle and made their intentions clear with a scintillating display of attacking football. By halftime, they were already 3-0 up.

Black Princesses defender and team captain Hannah Nyame opened the scoring with a stunning free kick that set the tone for the encounter. Afusatu Fuseini and Alberta Abube added their names to the scoresheet before Charlotte Ankrah sealed the rout in the second half with a composed finish.

After suffering relegation from the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League two seasons ago, the Essiam-based club has shown renewed determination to return to the topflight. Their performance in this year’s regional campaign proves they are ready to make that leap.

With this triumph, Socrates Ladies will now represent the Central Region at the Southern Zonal Championship scheduled for May 21st to 31st, 2025 at the Senya District Assembly Astro Turf. The competition will determine the teams that gain promotion to the Women’s Premier League.

The final match was witnessed by Central Regional Football Association Chairman, Mr. Robert Otieku Duncan, alongside other regional executives who lauded both teams for their spirited performances and reaffirmed their commitment to women’s football development in the region.

Essiam Socrates’ dominant win and qualification to the zonal championship signal a possible return to elite football—a journey they are clearly determined to complete.
