The Greater Accra Region, on Tuesday, closed the CAF License D coaching course being offered by the GFA for free to over 40 coaches in the region.

The course, which aims to enhance the skills of local football coaches, was led by experienced CAF instructors, Abukari Damba and Joyce Boatey-Agyei.

The closing ceremony was graced by the Greater Accra RFA Chairman, Samuel Aboabiri, and the Vice Chairman of the National Juvenile Committee, Joe Salam Abubakar.

In his address, Joe Salam Abubakar, who represented President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, urged the newly trained coaches to serve as ambassadors for the transformation of Ghana football, emphasizing their crucial role in shaping the future of the sport at the grassroots level.

“From today, you must be seen as ambassadors of the gospel of the game that is changing in our dear country,” he said.

He also highlighted that the GFA will run this course for the next three years, during which an estimated 900 coaches will be trained across the country.

“The FA has already trained 1,806 coaches ranging from License D to A. This free course being organised by the FA will increase this number by 300 more. These 300 new coaches, including you, have been trained to develop the game from the grassroots. Just be honest in whatever you do and aim high,” he added.

This initiative is part of the GFA's broader effort to improve football coaching standards and foster talent development in Ghana.
