Ghana coach makes two changes to face Nigeria in WAFU B U20 Final

Ghana U20 Coach Desmond Ofei has made two changes to his starting line-up ahead of the epic clash against Nigeria in the WAFU B U20 Championship Final on Wednesday October 30, 2024, in Togo.

Mohaison Mahmoud and Collins Boah have made way for Desmond Tetteh and Denis Ameyaw Appiah- Kubi for the final showdown against the Flying Eagles.

The final of the 2024 WAFU B U20 will take place at the Stade de Kégué in Lome, Togo. Kick off 19:00 GMT.

The Ghanaian gaffer has retained his key defenders and attackers who helped the side rally from a goal down to beat Cote D'voire 2-1 in their semi-final match on Sunday October 27, 2024.

Goalkeeper Benjamin Twum maintains his place in post while defensive quartet Dacosta Antwi, Phenyin- Denis Marfo, Maxwell Azafokpe and captain Edwin Kuffuor Asamoah are expected to provide cover at the back.

Jerry Afriyie, who is the Championship leading scorer with four goals, will partner Musibau Aziz in attack while Kelvin Nkrumah and Hayford Adu Boahene will operate from the wings.

The Stade de Kegue in Lome will be the centre of footballing drama as two of Africa's most storied youth teams meet in a match of epic proportions.

While both Ghana and Nigeria have secured qualification to the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations next year,  the clash between two of West Africa’s football powerhouses evoke emotions with a sub-regional title and bragging rights at stake.

The Black Satellites are determine to reclaim the title from the current holders, Nigeria,  in what promises to be an absorbing final in Lome on Wednesday evening.

The WAFU B U20 Championship serves as the qualification for the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, with only Ghana and Nigeria going through.

This 2025 U20 AFCON will also serve as the African qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, where the four semi-finalists will qualify automatically.
