Ten-man Golden Kick FC stunned Premier League side Karel United 5-3 in a penalty shootout to reach the MTF FA Cup semifinals. The thrilling quarterfinal tie had ended 0-0 after regulation time.

Edward Bentum sealed the win for Golden Kick FC with the decisive penalty kick, after Fatawu Mohammed missed his attempt.

Golden Kick FC played with a numerical disadvantage from the 83rd minute, following midfielder Zakaria Mumuni's expulsion due to a second yellow card.

Karela United had been on a roll in the MTN FA Cup, having defeated Young Apostles and TF Exponential despite struggling in the Ghana Premier League. However, they underperformed against the Access Bank Division One League side, forcing the game into a penalty shootout.

The win propels Golden Kick FC into the semifinals of the 2024/25 MTF FA Cup, where they will face Attram De Visser, who defeated PAC Academy on Saturday.
