Accra Great Olympics will clash with King Faisal on Match Day 14 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports stadium on Sunday. The Dade boys welcome back Maxwell Abbey Quaye having returned from the Africa Cup of Nations after Ghana’s elimination from the competition.

Great Olympics have won one and drawn three in their last four League matches – with their only win dating back to December 26, when they defeated Eleven Wonders 2-0 in Accra.

Coach Annor Walker is in dire need for a win to save his campaign following an uninspiring performance characterized by lack of goals and poor defensive displays.

Great Olympics are 7th in the League log with 19 points – eight points behind leaders Asante Kotoko and four behind King Faisal who are in third place.

King Faisal saw their six match unbeaten home record broken by Karela United last weekend following a 2-0 loss at the Baba Yara stadium to compound their problems especially on the road where they have won two, drawn one and lost three.

King Faisal started the season in a blistering manner by picking three wins on the spin (1-0 against WAFA, 3-1 against Aduana and 2-0 over AshantiGold) until they fumbled against Berekum Chelsea in a 1-0 loss at the Golden City Park on Match Day 4.

Zubairu Ibrahim, Mawuli Wayo, Franklin Osei and Enock Morison have displayed tenacity and character in the campaign despite joining the club from lower tier sides.

The match will take place at the Accra Sports stadium on Sunday, January 23, 2022.

In other matches, Accra Lions will battle former champions AshantiGold SC at the Accra Sports stadium on Saturday. Eleven Wonders will host Real Tamale United at the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman while Bibiani Gold Stars entertain Legon Cities at DUN’S Park.

Strugglers Elmina Sharks who sit at the foot of the table have a date with Berekum Chelsea at the Nduom stadium in Elmina. Sharks have amassed only 7 points after 13 League matches and need to play above themselves to return to winning ways having changed already changed two coaches in the campaign. Nii Odartey Lamptey made way for Mallam Yahaya after six matches into the season but the latter has since left the position now occupied by Kobina Amissah. Their last home win dates back to December 4, 2021 when they beat Karela United 2-1 at the Nduom stadium.

Fifth placed Bechem United will lock horns with WAFA at the Fosu Gyeabuor Park on Sunday. The home side are on a six match unbeaten run and would aim to extend that record against the Academy boys who lie in sixteenth place with 13 points.

Match Day 14 will be rounded up on Monday, January 24 when Dreams FC take on Aduana FC at the theater of Dreams at Dawu.
