Ghana needs to avoid a heavy defeat [4-0 loss] against Guinea to progress to the quarter-finals of the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

Following the Syli National’s 6-1 hammering of Botswana, the qualification from Group D has assumed greater importance with Mali also in contention.

A draw, at least for Ghana in Franceville, will see them finish top of the group - no matter the result when Mali play Botswana at the same time.

Ahead of the big game, striker Asamoah Gyan is seeking to have Ghana stamp their mark at the tournament with the Black Stars on the brink of a quarter-final place and expects positive approach from the Guineans.

"It’s a different game altogether. They scored six but Ghana is a different country altogether. We would make sure we handle it because they’ve got three points and they would be coming very strongly.

“No doubt about that, they would start the game with a positive mentality. But let’s see what happens at the end of the game because we are here to win every game,” Gyan, who scored his first goal at the tournament against Mali said.
