Ghana will have to play for bronze after their hopes of playing in the finals of the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup were dashed by France.
The Black Maidens, who played a greater part of the second half with ten players lost 2-0 to the European nation in Baku on Tuesday.
A brace by Kadidiatou Diani handed Ghana the semi-final heartache as leading scorer for the Black Maidens, Jane Ayieyam was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Diani scored in either half of the game with the opener coming in the 31st minute before wrapping up victory in the 89th minute.
Ghana, the first African side to appear in the last four of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will play either Germany or Korea DPR in the third-place match on Sunday before the finals.
