A goal in each half saw the Black Satellites settle for a 1-1 draw in the Maurice Revello tournament group B game against Venezuela on Sunday afternoon.
Venezuela however got an extra point in the match after winning 4-2 on the penalties in accordance with the rules of the competition.
Despite being bottom of the group, Ghana put up a spirited performance in the last group game to grab all three points in the game as a dominant performance in the first half saw Captain Zubairu Ibrahim grab the opener for the Black Satellites.
Ghana failed to take advantage of the dominance in the first half after missing all the opportunities that came their way from the start of the game.
The team gained momentum in the second half but failed to find the second goal and a possible winner as Venezuela grew in confidence in search of the equalizer. Their efforts paid off in the 74th minute - a blunder in the Ghana goal area gave them the equalizer by sneaking the ball past goalkeeper Gregory Obeng.
The game went into penalty shootouts per the rules pf the game with Venezuela winning 4-2 to pick two points from the match.
Ghana will play a classification match against an unnamed opponent on Wednesday.
