Samartex FC suffered their first home loss of the season to Nations FC in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 19 fixture at Nana Nsenkyire Park at Sameraboi.
The League leaders went into the game looking to win their 9th straight game at home to retain their 5 points gap at the top of the table but that suffered a jolt as Nations FC beat them one, nil.
Nafiu Sulemana’s 42nd minute goal handed the Timber Giants their first home defeat of the campaign as Kassim Mingle’s side recorded the double over the league leaders following a 2-0 win in the first round of the season at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
FC Samartex piled pressure on Nations FC with more attacking play in the second half but the visitors held on to secure all three points to move to the 4th position in the league standings with 30 points.
FC Samartex remain top of the league log with 35 points - three points ahead of second placed Asante Kotoko and 5 points richer than two-time champions Aduana FC who are in third place. Nations FC who have a game in hand against Dreams FC, are now in 4th place with 30 points.
