Otto Addo faced the media after our Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola on Friday. Ghana gave away a one goal lead to draw 1-1 with Angola in Luanda after substitute Zini Cabaca scored in the 63rd minute to cancel out Jordan Ayew’s 19th minute opener. In his post-match presser, Otto Addo expressed concern over the drop in intensity against Angola and the teams’ inability to capitalize on home advantages in recent matches.
Below is the transcript:
On the game
There is not much to say, Congratulations to Angola for qualifying for the AFCON. They didn't have anything to lose today, you could see they could play freely, we were a little bit more, we were more under pressure, and they pressed us very well, held us down in our half. It was difficult for us to play but we were missing our intensity and yeah, I think it was not good enough on our side.
On Ghana’s performance in the qualifying campaign
I'm going to say we think in general we have to look at the whole games, especially our home games, we lost let's say also to Angola where we were better, played better, created chances but sadly we lost.
On significance of winning at home
In these tournaments you have to win your home games, that's very important and if you don't win it's always difficult to play away and to try and win, it's always difficult because everybody, every nation is strong at home.
