The Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram has become a hub of intense activity as 31 Premier League referees, 30 assistant referees and 10 Catch Them Young Referees officials have gathered for a comprehensive training program. The course which started on August 29 and will end on September 1, 2024, aims to enhance their technical skills, uphold integrity, and ensure peak performance on the field.

The course, which will cover both theoretical and practical aspects of refereeing, will delve into critical areas such as recent amendments to the Laws of the Game, offside rules, handball decisions, and managing tactical fouls. Participants will also engage in rigorous sessions focusing on penalty area incidents, positioning, and game management concepts.

The course also involves practical training, with a focus on penalty area movements, positioning and anticipation, and offside scenarios.

In addition to technical training, the program included a fitness endurance check, previously completed, to ensure that all participants meet the rigorous physical demands of officiating at the highest level.

A crucial component of the training is the introduction to the Competitions Management System (CMS), a tool essential for modern refereeing, and integrity training aimed at reinforcing ethical standards and maintaining the trust of players and fans alike.

The course also includes daily video and written tests to keep the participants on their toes, ensuring that they absorb and apply their new knowledge effectively.

The training is conducted by the National Technical and Fitness Instructors, whose expertise and guidance were instrumental in the success of the course.

This intensive training program represents a significant investment in the future of Premier League officiating, reflecting the league’s commitment to maintaining high standards of refereeing and ensuring that its officials are well-prepared to manage the dynamic and challenging environment of top-flight football.
