President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku visited the camp of the Black Princesses ahead of their crucial FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup final round 2nd leg fixture against Senegal.
The President believes the technical team and players are on course to make a seventh consecutive appearance at the World Cup and assured the team of Government and the Football Associations support.
I’m very happy to be here this afternoon. I left Abidjan to be with this special group who are competing to be at the world stage. It was very important we show the biggest of support to this group and to tell all of you that the work and the competition you find yourself is very important to our motherland'' he said.
''When I saw our proud flag around the room, I said good job and this shows how committed we are to the country''.
''When we make it to the World Cup, we will know we have succeeded as a family in contributing to making our dear nation great and strong. This is your singular and collective contribution towards the image of Ghana''.
''Over the entire journey, you have played well and sacrificed and shown enough commitment towards our country. Fortunately we are at the very last stage and we must give it our very best because we have been more competitive''.
''We believe in the technical team and all of the players to achieve this goal of making it to the world stage. You have to stay stronger and fight together. Know that the entire nation, the government and the football Association are looking up to you for some excitement''
''Your Black Stars will draw inspiration from your performance and if you win, that will be a source of inspiration to them. People find inspiration from non conventional sources let alone conventional sources. I wish you well and may God make our nation great and strong'' President Simeon-Okraku added.
The Black Princesses will host Senegal in the 2nd leg in the final round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Sunday, January 21, 2024.
