Under-20 team coach, Sellas Tetteh says his pre-tournament squad announced on Monday stands a good chance of claiming glory at next month’s U-20 World Youth Championship in Egypt.
The Black Satellites coach named a 24-man team that would resume camping on Thursday in Accra ahead of their training tour of Qatar.
Having kept faith with many of the players who helped Ghana secure the Africa Youth Championships in Rwanda earlier this year, Sellas says the spine of the team remains intact.
“I have much confidence in my team. My players are capable of reaching the finals but we need to get our programme going first.
“It's not good talking about the World title now though we have play for it. We can't afford to look any further than our preparations,” the Black Satellites coach told www.ghanafa.org after announcing his squad.
Ghana will camp at the ASPIRE football academy in Qatar before Sellas Tetteh prunes his squad to 21 for the World Youth Championship.
“We are bringing them together and then proceed to Doha for our preparations. We would not have every member in the squad this week with the various European leagues just getting started.
“I like the balance of the team we have and we are going to fine-tune them to get what we want.”
“We have 24 now and for the tournament, we would need 21 out of which three goalkeepers are constant. I expect that to raise the level of competition.”
Ghana, are in Group D alongside, England, Uzbekistan and Uruguay in the tournament which has24 sides placed into six groups of four.
