Sellas Tetteh has hailed Ghana's ‘super takeoff’ in the qualifying campaign to the 2009 African Youth Championship after posting a 5-1 win over Angola at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Sunday.

The Black Satellites came from a goal down to deservedly win the game with goals from Rabiu Mohammed, Sadick Adams, Abdul Ganiyu and a brace from captain, Ransford Osei.

Sellas Tetteh had praise for his team but admits victory did not come easy for Ghana.

“It’s another super takeoff. That was a super performance in the first half.

“However, midway into the second half, we were losing possession and we would work on it especially when playing away. We have to sit up.

“They (Angola) reinforced their team after making two changes and our boys were getting jittery but when we scored our last goal, we showed our competency.

“But 5-1 is a comfortable win for us. I have confidence in my players,” Sellas Tetteh said in a post game interview.

And ahead of the return game, the Ghana coach says the competition for places in his team still remains open.

“We have about eight days of training coming up and any player who puts in much work can still force his way into the starting team and that means there would be changes should that happen,” Sellas added.

The first leg win enhanced Ghana’s chances of reaching the final round of qualifiers of the 16th African Youth Championships.

The winners after both legs qualify for the final round of the championships where seven teams would join the host nation, Rwanda for the Championship from January 18 to February 1, 2009.
