Ghana would play Libya in the first round qualifying stage of the 8th Africa U-17 Championship following Tuesday’s draw by the Confederation of African Football.
The Black Starlets and their first round opponents both drew a bye from the preliminary round matches as they prepare for the August 31 first leg match to be hosted by Ghana.
Fifty-two nations are involved in the qualifiers with 20 skipping the preliminary phase of the qualifiers leaving the 32 sides to compete for first round places.
Teams that drew byes are : Ghana, Nigeria, Tunisia, South Africa, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Eritrea, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Zambia, Sudan, Angola, Cameroon, Gambia, Guinea, Benin, Botswana and Libya.
The 8th Africa U-17 Championship would be hosted by Algeria in 2009 and it starts from the 19th of March till the 3rd of April 2009.
